Lotuses
Judith Weinshall Liberman

In early 2023, when I was 93 years old, after creating the FLORAL and the SUNFLOWERS series of acrylic paintings, I decided to focus on the lotus flower, mainly because of its beauty. To express that beauty, I employed the ancient art of stenciling and painted the lotus in bright primary and secondary colors, using two colors in each painting, with a velvety transition between the colors. As I painted each lotus flower, I was keenly aware of the symbolic meaning of the lotus as one of rebirth. From the mud, the lotus emerges pure and beautiful each morning.
